Kendall Oil & Refining Company, founded in 1881 in Bradford, Pennsylvania is one of the very first companies to use the Zippo for advertising, reportedly with an order for 500 in 1936, marking the beginning of artistic renderings on the surfaces of the Zippo. For this reason, Kendall advertising Zippos are highly desirable with many collectors.
1934-35 outside hinge Zippo with a Kendall logo in

Zippo indicates that Kendall Zippos were actually produced
before the reported 1936 first order.
